Why the fitness industry NEEDS to change
The fitness industry, like many other aspects of our world, has lost its way. Instead of creating healthier human beings, leading happier, more fulfilled lives. It has created generations of humans, who are more insecure, self-hating, injury prone, unaligned, over-medicated, repressed, and disconnected than ever before. It has created egotistical ideals, with the main focus being on body image itself. A concept that forces us to care more about how we are perceived by the world around us, than about how we truly feel, and how capable we actually are. We have somehow lost its original purpose…
The industry has become overinflated. The focus being on profit, instead of wellness, and YOU are its prey. Feeding on your fears and insecurities, flooding your news feed with unrealistic and ever-changing expectations of what it means to be “healthy.” Is it any wonder that none of us ever quite feel like we're living up to the expectation?
What would happen if we took away its power? (and WE have the power to do this!) What if we decided to say NO MORE! What if we decided to raise this next generation differently? My body is NOT the latest trend. My body is my own. It is unique, it is intelligent, it is strong. My body is not like yours, my body was made to be the perfect container for MY soul. And so too, was yours. What if we learned to love the way we were created? Learned to love the things that make us different? What if we built a deeper appreciation for our bodies, and were grateful for them every single day. The reality is, your body loves you. Your body is what keeps you here, in this place. It is what allows you to express yourself through movement, to take in all the wonders that this place has to offer. We get to choose. We can continue to walk right into their trap. We can continue to go against our bodies, to betray them, to ignore their call. Or we can fall back in love with ourselves, and with this life. We have free will. We can choose to unfollow, to delete, to turn the channel. We can choose to come home to ourselves. We just have to choose…
Do any of us truly know what it feels like to be free in our bodies? I would like to get there, and I would like to do it with you! Together, we can create the change we want to see in this world. We don’t have to feel the way that we do. What if we started moving in ways that made us feel empowered, capable, joyful, and connected? What if we learned exactly what our bodies needed from us? It IS possible!
Movement is the foundation to life.
We were built to move, to challenge our environment, and to grow. Not just physically but emotionally, intellectually and spiritually as well, and movement is an essential way to get us there. Physical fitness teaches us to be resilient, to test our spirit, and our will. It allows us to dig deep into the depths of who we are, and to fight through adversity. (and we all know this life we are living is no walk in the park) We want to create the strongest, most resilient beings possible, so that we can live at our highest level. We want to become the most confident, gritty, badass human beings that we can, so that we can live whatever kind of life we are called to live. Never let your body be the thing that stops you from doing the things that light you up most. Our bodies are absolute magic! They WANT to support us, and so much can be gained when we learn how to work WITH them.
How can you learn to be more intune with the needs of your body? How can you challenge yourself today, and take one step closer to freedom, one step closer to yourself? What is one thing you can start today, that will get you living more in alignment with your true nature? How can you fall back in love with yourself?
